The Power of Taking Ownership of Your Feelings

One of my belief is that everything that happens to me is at least partly my doing.  Once you take ownership of what happens to you rather than feeling that you are the victim of an external event, you will empower yourself to make the changes required. 

Blaming external factors for negative events in our lives is normal, and can be helpful in the short term as we are saying to ourselves, "it is not my fault, this is YOUR fault".  Sometimes we blame ourselves, which is just as unhelpful as it will reinforce our negative self esteem.  Blaming is very common and it is something we all do from time to time.  However, being aware of the fact that it disempowers us,  we can hopefully minimize it and better our lives in the process.
