If you have Depression, How can you find the "right" Doctor for you?

As a Family Doctor, I can give you a bit of insight into our profession.  As Medicine is so broad, it attracts a whole spectrum of personalities.  It ranges from the "emotionally intuitive and empathetic ones" who are better at dealing with mental health issues, to the more "emotionally detached personality" who are more inclined to be better in the surgical field.  Neither is better than the other, they are just better in their own areas.  By knowing this, you may be in a better position to find the "right" Doctor for you ie if you have predominantly an emotional issue, try and find a Doctor who is more empathetic and emotionally intuitive with an interest in mental health.  This will increase your chances of a better outcome for both you and the Doctor.

Hope this helps.

  4. Umair,
Thank you for your comment. I guess being in the career development, you will need to understand a bit of psychology in order to put the right people in the right job. Otherwise, people will suffer from high stress if the role is inappropriate for them.
